Carroll family papers and town of Thompson records, 1787-1842.

The Carroll, Jacobs and Crosby families lived in Thompson, Connecticut. Among their papers in this collection are legal documents, financial records, a few pieces of correspondence, and deeds. The names most frequently encountered are Wyman Carroll, Lucius W. Carroll, Hale M. Jacobs, Asa Jacobs, and Stephen Crosby. The Crosby, Jacobs and Carroll families intermarried. In addition there are two deeds signed by James Hillhouse; their relationship to the other documents is unknown. Of interest are several documents related specifically to town business, including minutes of a selectman's meeting, a tax list for 1801, the results of distributing the poor among the citizens of Thompson, and portions of two militia-related documents.
